Ann Johnson
President

Ann is currently employed as a Marketing Program Manager at Cisco Systems. A business professional for the past 14 years, Ann received her BA degree in Business Management from St. Mary's College. Ann lives in San Jose. (On the board since 1990)

Susan McKuhen
Vice President
Susan is currently working for Ventura Barnett Properties in San Jose. Susan serves on the Citizen's Advisory Council to the Santa Clara County Open Space Authority and the board of the SCC League of Conservation Voters She received her AA degree from Riverside City College. Susan lives in Gilroy. (On the board since 1996).

Sylvia Ortiz
Treasurer

Sylvia is a retired Agent of the City of San Jose's Real Estate Relocation Division. She has served on the board of the City of San Jose's Retirees and currently is the Treasurer of the San Jose Public Library Foundation. Sylvia has been volunteering at Los Amigos for over 20 years as well as reading to the young at the Biblioteca Latinamericana. She lives in San Jose. (On the board since 2002)

Arlene Sagun
Secretary

Arlene is currently the Managing Director for the San Jose Multicultural Artists Guild. She has extensive experience as a program manager, project coordinator, senior executive administrator, an HR generalist and an inside sales representative from companies such as Sun Microsystems, Silicon Graphics, Digital Equipment Corporation, Atari, Sony and NEC. Arlene has an AA in Business Administration from San Jose City College. (On the board since 1999)

Juan Mendoza

Juan is a retired utility worker for the City of Santa Clara. Currently involved in community volunteer activities, Juan is the President of the Washington Neighborhood Foundation. Juan lives in San Jose. On the board since 2000)


George Gibson
Member-at-Large

George is a retired Educator, Lecturer and Collector of African works of art. He received his B.A. Degree in African-American History from California State University, Los Angeles. In 1976, he received his MA in Public Administration from Pepperdine University. Mr. Gibson, also has California credentials in Teaching. He lives in Santa Clara. (On the board since 2005)

Malaika Paquiot
Member-at-Large

Malaika is a Software Engineer for the IBM Corporation. She holds an M.S. in Computer & Information Systems Engineering. Malaika has served as a Chair for the IBM's Black Family Technology Night in San Jose and as a Mentor for the Computer Technology Academy at the East Side Union High School District. She lives in San Jose. (On the board since 2004)

Viera Whye
Member-at-Large
Artistic Director of SJMAG's Professional Theatre program. Viera works as a Test Manager for Siemens, ICN in Santa Clara. She holds a BA in Theatre Arts and Sociology from Towson University and a Masters degree in Theatre from San Jose State University. Viera lives in San Jose. (On the board since 1990)

Adaku Davis

Program Director
of SJMAG's Arts Education program since 1997. Adaku has been a full-time performing artist since 1987 and an artist instructor since 1995. She lives in Fremont. (On the board since 1990)

Edgar Sanchez
Member-at-Large
Artist in Residence
for SJMAG's Community Empowerment program. Edgar is a professional performance artist, instructor and puppeteer. He also works in the San Jose public school system providing after school arts programming for elementary students. Edgar lives in San Jose. (On the board since 2000)
